How to Use Tasks, the Journal, and Harvest Tracking

4 min read · Updated July 6, 2026

Where tasks come from

The Tasks page lists every sow, harden-off, transplant, and harvest task for the season — generated automatically from your plantings and frost dates. No plantings or no ZIP code means no tasks: set your ZIP under Settings → Location if the list is unexpectedly empty.

Each task has three buttons: Complete, Snooze (pushes it a week), and Skip. Everything you action lands in the Task History tab.

Custom tasks

Click New task for your own reminders — watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, pest checks, or anything else. Custom tasks can repeat every N days, run until an end date, and attach to a specific garden, bed, or planting.

Journal

Journal is your free-form garden diary: pick a garden, write a note, optionally attach a photo URL. Entries list newest-first and filter by garden.

Harvests

Click Log harvest to record what you picked: the planting, date, weight (oz, lb, or g) and/or count, plus optional notes. The harvests page rolls these up into totals, a monthly yield chart, and a Top producers leaderboard.

Garden Book

The Garden Book tab assembles your year — bed diagrams, schedule, and plant reference — into a printable PDF. More in Your data, exports, and what happens if you cancel.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my task list empty?
Season tasks are generated from your plantings and frost dates. If you have plantings but no tasks, set your ZIP code in Settings → Location so GardenDraft can resolve your frost window.
